My latest EP, "Alpha", features an array of recently-completed pieces, mostly for piano and violin.
"Για Πάντα" means "forever" in Greek. This song features a mellowed-out piano repeating a simple chord progression ostinato...almost like history repeating itself, perhaps.
"Little Requiem" was composed after a friend passed away. It has a very hopeful, but very melancholy quality to it. Like Για Πάντα, this piece features an ostinato chord progression.
"The Bird's Lament" was composed as a response to a lot of the development going on around my area. Many of the trees have been cut down to make way for big condos and the like, and this has left much of the wildlife that once lived there without a home. The melody played on piano seems to recall birdsong in the distance.
"Hiraeth" is a Celtic word that is untranslatable to English. It represents an extreme melancholy or homesickness. This duet for flute and piano was composed for the "December Composition Survey".
"Nuit" means "night" in French. The piece, which progresses upwards, is like looking upwards at a night sky full of shimmering stars.
Keep in mind...this is a major development (aheh heh).
