Theme and Variation (piano, 4 hands) is based upon the old Russian folk song, Kalinka (Калинка). It starts off with a slow, rhythmic march in D Minor, where the main melodic theme is stated. It then transitions into the variation of this theme, which features fast triplet runs, making it sound like snow falling (in Siberia, perhaps?) The main melody is then recapitulated, for a powerful finale.
